Custom Shoes

When nothing off the shelf will do.

Custom-molded footwear built from your own measurements — for feet that a standard size, however wide, has never really fit.

Bespoke Footwear

A shoe designed for your foot, not an average one.

Finding the right footwear can be a real challenge, which is why we offer bespoke shoe options with Apis Footwear custom shoes. We take thorough measurements and evaluations so we fully understand your foot, then work with you to design the shoe that fits.

The result is footwear that meets your needs and genuinely improves your comfort and foot health.

How It Works

How a custom shoe comes together.

A full evaluation, then the design, then the fitting — and we walk you through each step before it happens.

Steve measuring and evaluating a patient’s foot

1. Measure & evaluate

We start with a comprehensive pedorthic assessment — a thorough examination, gait analysis and professional measurement of both feet, plus a 3D scan or foam impression to capture their exact shape.

If you already wear orthotics, we build them into the plan from the beginning so the finished shoe accommodates them properly.

2. Design it with you

Next we sit down together and design the shoe: style, closure, leather and color, and any accommodation your foot needs — extra room over a hammer toe, a wider forefoot, a higher instep.

You leave knowing exactly what is being made and what it will cost, before any work begins.

3. Fit & fine-tune

When your shoes arrive we fit them in person and check them on your feet, standing and walking. Adjustments, stretching and modifications are made right here on site — usually while you wait.

Come back any time. Feet change, and we’d far rather adjust a shoe than have you put up with one.

Who It’s For

Custom shoes make sense when…

  • Your two feet are different enough that one pair never fits both
  • A severe bunion, hammer toe or Charcot foot rules out standard lasts
  • You need a size or width beyond even our 4½–18 and AA–14E range
  • Swelling changes the shape of your foot through the day
  • You’ve had a partial foot amputation or major foot surgery

Not sure whether you need a custom shoe, or whether a therapeutic shoe with the right modification would do? That is exactly what an evaluation is for — and we’ll tell you honestly if the simpler option is the better one.

Please note: we do not bill insurance. We’re happy to go over costs with you before any work begins, and we accept FSA and HSA for therapeutic footwear.
