Professional Foot Evaluations & Consultations

We look first, then recommend.

Most foot problems have been building for years, and the shoe or insert that finally settles them depends entirely on what is actually going on — the shape of your arch, how you load the foot as you walk, where the pressure concentrates, how your two feet differ from one another.

So we start with an evaluation. You get a thorough examination, a gait analysis and accurate measurements of both feet, and we explain what we find in plain language, with time for your questions. Only then do we talk about what would help — an orthotic, a therapeutic shoe, a modification, a custom shoe, or sometimes nothing more than a change in how you lace up.

Appointments are one-on-one and unhurried. You won’t be handed off, and you will never be sold something we don’t think you need.

Before You Come In

How to get the most from your visit.

  • We see clients by appointment onlybook your time slot if you haven’t already.
  • Bring the shoes you wear most, plus any current orthotics — worn soles are evidence.
  • Bring the socks you would normally wear with the footwear we’re fitting.
  • If a doctor or physical therapist referred you, bring their name — and any prescription or written measurement.
  • For shoe modifications we need a written measurement from a healthcare professional, and both shoes.
  • Allow about an hour — appointments are one-on-one and we don’t rush them.

Please note: we do not bill insurance, but we do accept FSA and HSA for therapeutic shoes and orthotics. We’ll go over costs with you before any work begins.

Your Appointment

What a full evaluation includes.

Examination & gait analysis

We examine both feet — skin, structure, pressure points, range of motion — and watch how you actually walk. The wear pattern on the shoes you arrive in tells us a great deal, so bring the pair you wear most.

Professional Foot Measurement and Fitting

Professional measurement of length, width and girth on both feet, then a 3D scan with our foot-scanning camera — clean, quick and precise — or a hand-poured foam impression where that suits better.

Findings & a plan

A clear explanation of what we found, what we’d recommend and what it will cost — before anything is ordered or made. We’ll send a follow-up letter to your healthcare provider if you’d like one.
